The Southland Greyhound Racing Club was established in 1972 racing totalisator meetings out of the
Southland A & P Showgrounds from 1976 to 1990. The club relocated to Ascot Park Raceway to establish New Zealands
first and only tri code facility. The track at Ascot Park is a large one turn track racing over distances of 390m, 457m and
732m and has a grass surface. There is kenneling for 100 dogs.
The club races 12 totalisator meetings a year currently. All of these meetings are dual code.
The club operates a bramich lure and a split timing system. Trials are held every Sunday afternoon through the winter at 1pm
and Monday and Friday nights during the summer starting at 6pm.
